Prayer Request

Please keep Scott Gulas’ Dad in your prayers if this has not been requested already. He had a heart attack recently.

Regards,

James

In case anyone is interested, I’m sending flyers to upcoming events.

Also, I am involved in a play “Line in the Sand” which looks at the issue of immigration from several different perspectives. If you would like to see it, bring a friend along, we will be performing it again at Our Mother of Sorrows church on April 13th at 7:30pm.

Perks: Check out the many convenient benefits TI offers
(25 Mar 2008)
Paul Hakes of Irving used one to lower his blood pressure. Jason Potnick of Dallas financed his house with one. Lynda Pasma of Colorado uses one monthly to impress TI customers.

What was it that these TIers used? Perks, a set of TI benefits that you should probably learn more about.

A wide range of choices

TI benefits cover a range so broad that, when they first learn about them, many TIers say "I had no idea." The list includes:

  • Product discounts for cars, computers and appliances
  • Discounted professional services
  • Free health and wellness activities
  • Financial programs
  • Free informational resources and networks
  • Company concierges

"These special benefits are really 'perks' for TIers," said Ellen Clinton, manager of Les Concierges for TI. "Our service, for example, offers TIers nationwide an opportunity to save time by letting us do the legwork on everything from finding a plumber to planning a special trip."

Other perks available to all TIers include discounts on products and services. Some products have TI parts in them, and others are available at a savings just for being a TIer.

"Our discounted programs offer employees a great way to save money, and some of them are provided by TI customers," said Ingrid Scroggins, who manages internal company communications and news. Ingrid's team posts stories on Infolink when new benefits debut. Her team also maintains a running list on my.ti.com under the Discount Products & Services category.

Go exploring, and leave a trail

The value of the offer depends on what you're looking for and how deeply you look. Some benefits give basic discounts to employees at many companies; others offer deeper discounts; still others are designed specifically to complement TI core benefits.

You really need to explore it yourself and see what might apply to you. You'll want to bookmark many of the resources such as a car purchase discount, in your Web browser. You may not need it now, but you'll want to find it later.

Every TIer should investigate:

  • YouDecide.com – This third party offers an extensive list of discounted insurance, finance and consumer products and services, mostly through online tools.
  • TI Foundation Matching Gifts – You can double your money when you give to kindergarten through 12th-grade schools, higher education institutions or arts and cultural groups.
  • LesConcierges – TI has two on-site corporate concierges ready to make life easier for TIers nationwide. To contact them, call 800-395-6333.

Check the accompanying chart for a listing of these benefits and where to find them online.

If you've used any TI "perks," the HR Benefits Communications team would like you to send in your testimonial. Stories may be used in future articles and communications. Send your story to hrcomm@list.ti.com. If your story is used, you will receive a Live Healthy gift.

Also, if one of you would like to say the blessing, I would really appreciate it.

Making Pancakes
Six year-old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor.

He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.

Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad.

He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove and he didn't k now how the stove worked!. Suddenly he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and sticky.

And just then he saw Dad standing at the door Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon 's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him.

Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!

That's how God deals with us.. We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess. Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend, or we ca n't stand our job, or our health goes sour.

Sometimes we just stand there in tears because we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even though some of our mess gets all over Him.

But just because we might mess up, we can't stop trying to "make pancakes" for God or for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right, and then they'll be glad we tried...

I was thinking. and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that need rekindling or three words needing to be said, sometimes, "I love you" can heal & bless! Remind every one of your friends that you love them. Even if you think they don't love back, you would be amazed at what those three little words, a smile, and a reminder like this can do.

I assert the following: there are few sounds as sweet as the sound of our names...pronounced correctly! Now the other (and sometimes

thorny) side of that assertion is the following: some names are just plain difficult to pronounce, period!

Hey, if pronouncing difficult names is pretty much a no-brainer for you, terrific. Hooray. I envy you. I salute you. I owe you a cup of coffee. I want you to feel free to skip this message and go on to more important things. But if pronouncing names correctly does sometimes pose a challenge for you, read on.......

Cheers!
